How to read RSSI values from a TCP packet? 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi all;

I am working on a helthcare monitiring and tracking project. In order to locate the positions, an algorithim which requires RSSI values is written.

currently; I am working with Bluetooth. I porgrammed the shimmer mote with the ECG program and display the graph on a software called (shdisplay.exe). However; I don't know how to force the bluetooth host to expose the RSSI values!

CC2420 radio is another possible way to get those values but I am using a virtual machine (VMware) which dosn't have a program (such as: Cygwin) to read and show data sent via sensors.

recently; I used BioMOBIUS "eyesWeb" but i didn't know how to create a design that shows the values of the packet sent!

I really need your help to read those values ..

Thanks
- Sara

hi,
Did you got the data from the Shim on Disk?
Designing with eyes web is Vey easy ,Read the BiomobiusShimmer Tutorial and other tutorials also like Developer guide for BioMobius ,
You have to download BioMobius and EyesWeb SDK from the site

Eyse Web SDk

hi guys,

Sara, i seen your post on the SHIMMER users group, did you get it to work?

On the Bluetooth radio, i never got the RSSI from the chp, i dont think it can be done with the current cBT chip and API.

CC2420 can do it easily though
i remember doing it years ago with this http://docs.tinyos.net/index.php/Rssi_Demo

let me know the status
cheers
Adrian

Thanks for the reply ...

Actually I am trying now to get the values via CC2420,, I am using VMware that comes with Shimmer ,, I have programmed the sensors from the RssiDemo folder exists in the TinyOs-2.x, a sensor as BaseStation and the other as the sending Mote , However; The error i got is :

make: *** No rule to make target `shimmer'. Stop.
tiny2@tinyVM:~/tinyos-2.x/apps/tutorials/RssiDemo$ make
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.
tiny2@tinyVM:~/tinyos-2.x/apps/tutorials/RssiDemo$ cd /home/tiny2/tinyos-2.x/apps/tutorials/RssiDemo/java
tiny2@tinyVM:~/tinyos-2.x/apps/tutorials/RssiDemo/java$ java RssiDemo
getenv JNI library not found. Env.getenv will not work
(run the tos-install-jni tool, see man tos-install-jni for more details)

sf@localhost:9002 died - exiting (java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused)

what can I do to solve this problem ?
Thanks
Sara
